It's National Cherry Day and thanks to my Grandma, cherry pie is the first thing that comes to my mind. I don't believe that I'll ever be able to make it quite like she did. There must be some secret ingredient that she put into each and every one of her cherry pies. In honor of today, here are some yummy, but quick and easy recipes for you to try out. Enjoy!
Cherry Delight
Ingredients:
3 cans cherry pie filling
1 box white cake mix
2 sticks butter melted
1 lg. Cool Whip
nuts (optional)
Directions:
Empty the pie filling into cake pan. Sprinkle dry cake mix over filling. Pour butter over cake mix. Sprinkle with nuts if desired. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until brown. Let cool, then spread Cool Whip over top and sprinkle with a few more nuts.
Cream Cheese Cherry Pie
Ingredients:
pie crust (cooled)
3 oz. cream cheese
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 pint whipping cream
1 can cherry pie filling
Mix the cream cheese and sugar together. Whip the cream, then fold it into the cheese/sugar mixture. Spread into the bottom of the pie shell. Top with cherry pie filling and chill in refrigerator for three hours.
Cherry Turnovers
These are super easy because all you need is Pillsbury pie crust OR Pillsbury crescent rolls and cherry pie filling. Fill the crust and pop them in the oven and you're done!
If you're feeling extra ambitious mix some powdered sugar and water together for some icing to drizzle on top!
