National Name Your Car Day is October 2nd!

What kind of car do you own? Does your car have a name of its own? If not, today is the perfect day to take part in this fun holiday! Naming your automobile might seem like a silly idea, but it can actually have some benefits. For starters, naming your automobile creates a stronger emotional bond between you and your vehicle. It's more than simply a vehicle that gets you from point A to point B; it's a dependable partner that has your back on every journey.

Another advantage of naming your automobile is that it makes it simpler to refer to. Instead of saying 'my automobile' or 'the silver sedan,' simply say the name of your vehicle. This saves time while also adding a personal touch to your conversations.

Tips on how to name your own car:

Think about the make and model of your car. You may be able to think of an original name just based on what kind of car you have. For example, some very famous cars have been given names.

  • Ford Model T: Tin Lizzie

  • Fiero: Plastic Fantastic

  • BMW Z3: Clownshoe

  • Subaru 360: Ladybug

  • Volvo 200: The Brick

  • 1932 Ford: Deuce Coop

What is the color of your car? Many people simply use the color to give their car a name!

  • Ruby

  • Sky

  • Ole' Blue

  • Dusk

  • Vadar

  • Ginger

  • Frosty

  • Snowball

  • Sunny

  • Scarlet

  • Orchid

  • Jade

  • Ivy

Also, keep in mind if you want your car to have a gender. If not, there are plenty of gender-neutral names out there.

You may want to try to find a name that highlights what your car is most used for, or what you like to use your car for. Here are a few examples.

  • Hunter

  • Nemo or Dory (beach)

  • Voyager (road trips or adventures)

  • Boss (business)

  • Chauffeur (carting kids around)

Do you have a fast sporty car?

Try something like:

  • Sonic

  • Flash

  • Lightning

  • Bullet

  • Rocket

Is your car electric?

  • Nickola

  • Spark or Sparky

  • Magneto

  • Electra

You could also use one of many famous car names! Here's just a few:

  • General Lee

  • Batmobile

  • Herbie

  • Lightning McQueen & Mater

  • K.I.T.T.

  • Bluesmobile

  • Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

  • The Mystery Machine

Sometimes, you just might get lucky. For example, if you have a green car and you like Hulk, Kermit, or Yoda, then you're all set. However, there are so many possibilities! Many people simply name their cars regular everyday names like Susie or Joe. It's not meant to be difficult, just FUN!
